'I share a tale of resilience, persistence and ever-growth. I am a gay woman and I rock a walking cane. I have more letters behind my name than most of the professionals I see - ASD, ADHD, C-PTSD, MCAS, hEDS, POTS, Endo, LGBTQI+...you name it. I'm a survivor of childhood sexual assault, inter-marital rape, stranger rape and family violence. In 2024, I spent five months in hospital, almost died twice, and have now been told I have permanent physical disability.
Yet I am kind, patient, loving, forgiving, hopeful, inspired and driven.
I have more than 30 children's books published in many languages, I'm a trained midwife, an entrepreneur, business owner, funeral director, mortician (oh, the stories!), marriage and funeral celebrant, exhibiting visual artist, recording artist - releasing 'Bad Apples' on spotify in 2024.
So 'Transitions' are what I want to focus on. Transitions from harrowing, relentless narcissistic abuse to the sudden silence that follows.Transitions from a house full of children, to a house without. Transitions from being pregnant, to suddenly not anymore. Transitions from youth, and the ignorance that it’s everlasting, to menopause (gasp!). Transitions from having a uterus, to having a vault - can you even believe it’s called that in medical terms? I had to go to Facebook to even find that out…'
